Road Roller Operation Methods

Road Roller Operation Methods

Road roller operation requires certified personnel and strict adherence to the workflow: “Inspection – Startup – Operation – Shutdown” to ensure safety.

🚜 Pre-Operation Preparation

  • Personnel Qualification: Operators must undergo professional training and hold a valid operation certificate. Always wear safety helmets, reflective vests, and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Equipment Inspection: Walk around the machine to check engine oil, fuel, hydraulic oil, and coolant levels. Confirm tire pressure, brakes, and steering systems are normal, and ensure there are no obstacles or personnel nearby.

🚗 Driving and Operating Essentials

  • Starting & Moving Off: Place the gear in neutral, set the throttle to 1/4, and warm up for at least 5 minutes. Sound the horn to confirm safety before releasing the handbrake to start.
  • Compaction Standards: Control driving speed at 2–4 km/h. Follow the principle of “compacting edges first, then the center; light passes first, then heavy passes.”Shifting gears or coasting in neutral on slopes is strictly prohibited.
  • Safety Distances: Maintain a spacing of over 3 meters during multi-machine operations, and over 20 meters when reversing on slopes. Tailgating is strictly forbidden.

🛑 Post-Operation Handling

  • Stopping & Shutting Down: Turn off the vibration switch first. Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes to cool down before turning it off and cutting the power.
  • Parking & Maintenance: Park on level, safe ground. On slopes, use wooden blocks to chock the wheels. In winter, place supports under the drum to lift it off the ground to prevent freezing to the surface.
