Post-Operation Handling of Excavators
Upon completing operations, the excavator must strictly follow the four-step process of “Parking, Inspection, Cleaning, and Storage” to ensure equipment safety and prolong service life.
Core Shutdown Procedures
- Idle Cool-down: Before turning off the engine, allow it to idle for 3–5 minutes to let the turbocharger and engine temperature decrease naturally. Direct shutdown under high temperatures is strictly prohibited.
- Reset Devices: Position the machine squarely, lower the bucket to the ground (bottom touching the surface), and release hydraulic system pressure. Place all control levers in Neutral, and push the safety lock lever to the Locked position.
- Power Cut-off: Engage all brakes, turn off the engine, and lock the doors, windows, and cab.
Post-Operation Inspection and Cleaning
- Visual Check: Walk around the machine to check for oil or water leaks. Remove mud from the undercarriage and inspect the bucket teeth for wear.
- Remove Flammable Materials: Thoroughly clean paper, rags, oil residue, and other flammable materials attached to the engine and surrounding areas to prevent spontaneous combustion.
- Drain Accumulated Water: Open the drain valve at the bottom of the fuel tank daily to discharge water and sediment from the oil-water separator.
Standardized Parking Requirements
- Safe Location: Move away from the edge of the work face and park on level, solid, and safe ground. Parking on slopes, near ditches, or in low-lying areas prone to water accumulation is strictly forbidden.
- Inclement Weather: If antifreeze has not been added during winter construction, drain the cooling water to prevent the engine block from freezing and cracking. For overnight parking, arrange for security or ensure the site is sealed.
- Fuel Management: It is recommended to fill the fuel tank completely after work to minimize air inside, preventing condensation caused by temperature differences from mixing with the fuel line.
The operator may only leave the site after completing the above steps and confirming everything is correct. If abnormalities (such as unusual noises or leaks) are detected, report for repair immediately; parking the machine with known faults overnight is strictly prohibited.
